MSY Launch Campaign

Securing the Future of Montessori School of Yakima

For decades, Montessori School of Yakima has provided children in our community with an education that nurtures curiosity, independence, and a lifelong love of learning. A key part of that success has been the school’s long-time home, where MSY has been able to operate at a remarkably affordable cost. That arrangement, however, will end in 2028, and the school must secure a new long-term location. This moment presents both a challenge and an opportunity: the opportunity to thoughtfully plan the next chapter for Montessori education in Yakima.

Why this matters

A school built with intention — and ready for what’s next.

Beginning with a single Primary classroom serving children ages three to six, MSY was built on a shared belief in child-centered, hands-on learning. Today, the school supports academic growth alongside the social-emotional and developmental needs of the child, while planning for a future beyond its current campus.

1965
A small group of dedicated parents founded Montessori School of Yakima to bring Montessori education to the Yakima Valley.
Early 1970s
After several early moves, MSY found a stable home at its current location.
Today
MSY serves 144 students from 15 months old through 8th grade and continues strengthening support for children and families.
Looking Ahead
With the lease concluding in August 2028, MSY is preparing for a future home that better supports its mission and growth.
Your impact

What fundraising makes possible

While tuition sustains the core of the school, fundraising helps MSY flourish. The We Heart MSY Annual Campaign helps ensure that every student has access to the enriching experiences that define a Montessori education, regardless of financial circumstance.

Arts & creative expression
Experiential & nature-based learning
Skiing, tennis, & outdoor education
Continued education & professional development for guides
Scholarship opportunities that expand access and equity
These opportunities are not extras — they are essential to the whole-child Montessori experience and to ensuring MSY remains accessible, inclusive, and forward-thinking.
Community voices

A legacy felt across generations

The story of MSY is shaped by students, families, teachers, alumni, and friends who have helped build and sustain the school through every season.
